The Swim-n-Survive Maldives Training Program was first conducted for Addu and Fuvahmuvalah in February 2012. Twenty-four participants learned about
prevention, action and outreach. Participants took their training back to their
communities to develop new attitudes, behaviors and skills.

A second training was
conducted for Kaafu and Vaavu in April 2012. Twelve
island schools were represented. Some topics included, creating sustainable
efforts, volunteerism, surveying community viewpoints, teaching G1-3 Swim-n-Survive
skills, learning about site orientation and hazard removal, as well as what to do and what
not to do during water-related emergencies.
