Rescue Swimming and Lifesaving Program for school teachers

On 28^th January 2012, the MNDF Defense Institute for Training and Education joined with the Ministry of Education in inaugurating a Rescue Swimming and Lifesaving Program for Male’ school teachers. Mr. Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu, Defense Minister, was pleased that the Defense Institute for Training and Education and the Ministry of Education were working together to provide this opportunity for teachers to participate in a program of international standards. The program begins on 29^th January in Male’ and will be expanded throughout the country. Madam Sifa, Minister of Education, emphasized the need for such a program as many schools are involved in activities on or across the water. She advocated that each teacher needs to know swimming and survival skills as a preventative measure.
