Honolulu’s Washington Middle School principal, Michael Harano said students are advised at the beginning of every school year about consequences for inappropriate behavior, such as bullying, but incidents still occur. He admits that if people are really interested in trying to get no bullying to occur in schools, it needs to be linked to parent training.
A teacher, who was a victim of bullying, asked “Where are the preventive measures? Where are the programs? And where are the trainings?” She said she left teaching after a few years because some of her students verbally and physically harassed her.

What doesn't show in this article is the definition of bullying. So do pollsters know what it is before answering?

Norwegian researcher Dan Olweus defines bullying as when a person is "exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons." Prevention starts at an early age... both in the home and at any venue of education. Includes civic understanding,personal responsibility, self-control,forgiveness,conflict resolution...

Cannot really prevent others from bullying me, but I can have the right skills and responses when I am bullied. Takes time and effort. But can.
