  2. That sounds interesting. Your comment seems to point at the idea that knowledge is valuable when it is used. Who should be teaching our children what the value of knowledge is? If children understand the value of what is in a book, does that mean they will learn?

  3. The classroom is very important. But the teacher is the most important element in the classroom. Books become useful only if the teachers teach the studnets how to use them properly

  5. sincerely, i do not think our teachers have the motivation or the qualification that is required. the level of teaching and developing the teachers at first need to be improved at the Maldives!

  6. School Heads, ESQID, Edn Mininstry and the Govt should do more to motivate teachers. What can the Ministry and ESQID do for teacher motivation?

  7. What do you think the Ministry and ESQID can do to motivate the teachers? Hence, teacher motivation is a factor for classroom effectiveness and school improvement, we need to think about it!

  9. There are many things that can be done for teacher motivation; as all of us teachers know ther are two types of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic - to improve the motivation within ourselves, we have to raise the status of teachers and make this profession and more nobler profession and make sure that the soceity sees us teachers as important people. What we are doing is building the future of the country, this isn't somthing small, and if the government and the ministry of education believes this to be true, then programmes to raise the status of our teachers need to be conducted. The truth in our schools is that most parents do not trust the teachers to deliver a good quality education and we are increasingly seeing that the ministry of Educatiion also undermines us teachers. This has to stop. we the teachers are trained to deliver what we deliver based on the psychology of learning, based on the student's age. That is whay we have to have trianing. This needs to be recognised and uly respected. Then there are other things like the salary we get and other incentives we get. Opportunities for further training is also an incentive that most teachers would very much like.
Every one has to recognise that us teachers work under a lot of pressure, from various groups of people. It is rightly so, as, if we fail, then the nation would be put in peril. However, we should also understand that as teachers we do not take our responsibilities lightly.
We would really be happy if simply we are given the recognition we duly deserve.

  10. I totally agree with anonymous.Teachers need both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in order to raise 'smart' students for the next century. The future of our country is in the hands of teachers. Better to put more effort in enhancing this issue - which is possible - rather than on issues like climate change which one might think is possible but...
